Architectural Model of Audrey Irmas Pavilion in Los Angeles by OMA | Shohei Shigematsu

$1,000.00

One of a kind, architectural model of OMA-designed Audrey Irmas Pavilion at Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles, California. Three distinct, interconnected voids are cast as opaque volumes within a translucent, parallelogram building form. The resin model was created by OMA New York and is signed by architect Shohei Shigematsu.

The Audrey Irmas Pavilion, completed in January 2022, is OMA’s first commission from a religious institution and first cultural building in California. The Pavilion is an apparatus for assembly, carved by its sloping away from its historic neighbors and leaning out towards its urban context. The final form is both enigmatic and familiar, a counterpoint to the Temple that is both deferential and forward-looking. Three distinct gathering spaces expressed as voids punctured through the building are interlocked and stacked. A series of openings throughout them filter light and frame views to the Wilshire Boulevard Temple campus and Los Angeles.

Materials: model cast in green-dyed polyester resin with polished finish. Custom crate made of clear-coated marine grade plywood with blue foam interior lining.
